My wife and I have been using mSecure on our iOS devices for over a year now and loved it there. I recently move to a Mac mini for my home computing needs and decided it was time to add the OS X version into the mix also. What a great program! So much easier to update and add new entries now it really makes managing passwords and accounts more pleasurable. The help and support are fantastic also and answered all of my questions before adding the new OS X version into the mix. Painless and seamless!
Just bought today and ran the mac and the iOS apps through some tests. Pretty happy with the app. We used Splash ID for years but currently having trouble with sync of desktop and device apps. Have been taken in the past with their “free upgrade” offers for the desktop software, only to be coerced into buying the latest version. Not an ethical bunch. Tried Lastpass, 1Password, and Dashlane. A lot of unwanted features and push to unnecessary subscriptions that are not necessary. Happy with mSecure as they are US based, software is simple to use, and has zero sync issues. More people should know about this app! Definitely good potential for sales as everyone needs apps like this. Please note that you do have to buy the iOS and the OSX apps separately so you will have to pay twice. Keep up the good work!
I love this app. I used it on all of my devices. The sync over dropbox works great. The fingerprint security on the iPhone 6 is great as well. I have also had great experience with the support on the rare occassions I have needed assistance.
I have this app on my iPhone, iPad and iMac and share a common database across all of them. I saw that one review had a sync issue. This has not been a problem for me. I sync to a DropBox folder and it all works smoothly. Highly recommend this app.
I rely heavily on mSecure, both on my phone and my laptop. The phone version of the app is quite usable, although I now wonder if it could take advantage of Safari Extension support in iOS to make password entry or scraping easier. The Mac version of mSecure is now feeling very dated. The interface has not been updated to keep pace with other modern apps. Too many uncustomizable, clunky-feeling fields. It also doesn’t integrate with browsers, which could be a good thing as far as security is concerned. If it weren’t for the ugly and rigid desktop interface, I’d most definitely give mSecure a five star rating. Anything extra would be gravy.
After waiting months for the iPhone version of Passwords Plus, it finally came and I had it installed on my iPhone and both Bootcamp and OSX. everything seemed to be working as planned - same database across all platforms and in-sync. Then one day, sync errors -- and no explanation -- and absolutely no valid support available. After several months of frustration, I ran across mSecure and after evaluating this versus 1Password & SplashID, elected to go with mSecure. Currently it is on my OSX and iPhone. Have downloaded Windows trial version for study and have high anticipations of seamless expansion there also. Would recommned this for use / evaluation etc. Seems to be a valid product. Update to orginal post: Have Windows release version installed in Bootcamp. All work ok, just sometimes difficult to sync via Wi-Fi. Not a seamless experience each time. Hence 4 stars only. If worked perfect each time, would give 5 stars.
I’ve been using mSecure for 1-2 years now, across two iPads, two Macs (iMac and MacBook pro), and two iPhones. This app if flexible and fast, with both Wi-Fi and iCloud syncing so you create or edit an entry on one device, and sync (WiFi-manually, iCloud-automatically) without trouble. Fast record searching, customizable record creation, and sorting that is intuitive. I’m waiting for some custom/better field types so I can create records that will give me the date picker, or calendar picker, etc. on iDevices. But, this is just a way to put another flavor of icing on a cake that is already delicious! You won’t be disappointed.
Provides good security, the search function moves at a turtles pace. But as password safes go mPassword is pretty limited in function, and it appears as though Illium Software has little intention of keeping up with the field. I would research the field more closely before deciding.
I rely on this app more than any other. I have 400+ passwords, and the only way to remember them is to write them down in a secure manner. mSecure just works, and allows me secure access to my passwords on Macintosh and iOS. The copy to clipboard is so easy. When I need to use my banking app, or log into any secure app on my phone, I just open mSecure, copy the password, and paste into the app. Same for logging into a web page on my computer. No trying to remember 10-character passwords with letters, numbers, and symbols. If I ever have problems with mSecure, it is easy to export my passwords so I can import them into a future storage system. mSecure makes it easy to have a different, secure password for every web site. HOWEVER, you should consider buying this app from their web site, and using Dropbox to sync the password files. 1) Every so often, Apple will make you re-enter your Apple ID password in order to open an app. If that app happens to be mSecure, you’ll be in a pickle. In order to see your Apple ID password, you need to open mSecure, but you can’t open mSecure until you remember your AppleID password. This just happened to me. 2) Apple has at times disabled synching between iOS and Macintosh through iCloud (and could again). When they did this (in the fall of 2014), I could not sync changes in my password file between my phone and computer, which was very dangerous. (Which version has the latest password? Better write it down on a piece of paper and put it in your wallet!) Dropbox is free for limited storage, and is so much simpler and more reliable than synching through iCloud. [2016-03-05: I’m updating this review to address the comments by “Paul……” on Oct 06, 2014. The synching issues he points out are almost certainly the same issues that I experienced. These were introduced when Apple changed iCloud synching so that an up-to-date iOS device could not (for a number of weeks) sync with an up-to-date Macintosh device. This was completely beyond the ability of the developers to control, or even anticipate.]
I’ve used this app for years and its development was poorly executed at best. I have installed it accross several platforms, Mobile, Windows, Mac, etc, and the experience overall is clunky with a poor UI. Having said that, since I’ve used it for years I’m stuck with it, yay!! It would seem that the app is poorly written also with regards to licensing via the App Store; the app works fine for a while until its been updated then I have to re-authorize it which is an inconvenience, given the fact that my hundred other App Store apps don’t have this issue. After that, every 2 - 3 updates or so (I assume) the app mysteriously gets corrupted and it tells me to uninstall and re-download from the app store. Good luck!
I have used the app for several years. It is absolutely great and now with Touch ID it is even easier. to work with. I have tried other apps and nothing compares. I use it on my MacAir with an iPhone 6 an iphone 5 and previously an iPhone 4. No issues synching - it does it flawlessly. You can tailor the categories so I have a “standard” template I can use across all types. Probably the best and most used app that I have. Update. After several years of use this is still a wonderful and flawless app. Easily works with a browser so you can get to the specific login site you may need. This is my go to app for passwords.
