mSecure App Reviews

Praise

This app is seriously and without a doubt the definition of a UTILITY APP. This is the kind of apps that make me love my iPhone even more. It’s handy, practical, neat, simple, and my goodness is it helpful! With so many passwords all over where should you keep these and store them? This app does what it says and it works just like it should. I have no sync problems between my Mac, Macbook, iPhone, or iPad, I just love it. Praise where praise is deserved. Without a doubt the best password storage app!

Don’t show attachments

I just paid $2.99 for the image attachment feature on mSecure for iPhone, but the Mac version does not show the images attached in a item created using the iPhone version.

Best program I own

I am in IT and I support hundreds of clients and systems. Without this program I would be lost. I use this every day. It sync’s to Dropbox like a charm. I use this on my Macbook, to sync to my iPhone (5s), and back. I also use dual boot to Windows, and sync it there from the Mac side. I have over 100 usernames, password, websites, logins, etc. on this. It has saved me so many times. This is most valuable app, to me, in the App Store.

I love this app!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has to be the most underrated password app. I cannot believe it’s not the top selling. I keep everything in here, well beyond passwords. I travel a lot and I want to access the data from multiple devices, included my wife’s — this app is a dream for that. I keep credit card info in here, social security numbers of my family, passport information, bank account information, web site passwords (just a small part of what this does). I sync mine with Dropbox and have never had an issue. I love how it sync’s. When my wife calls me to ask for a piece of info I have stored in here, I just remind her that its installed on her phone and she can easily access the info at any time. I was using the ‘notes’ app for all this stuff on my phone and someone pointed out how exposed I was. Started using this and never looked back. I feel very comfortable that my data is safe in mSecure. I’ve told several people about this app. One feature it has that I don’t use is the auto password generator. I’m sure that my passwords would be much more secure if I used msecure to generate them all, but I don’t want to have to look up the password every time. There are probably some accounts I should do this for though. I love the user interface. I’ve been using it for about 18 months. I use it on my iPhone, my wife’s iphone, my wife’s mac book, my Mac book, and iPad. All sync’d to the same dropbox account so I can access my data in all those places. It’s brilliant.

Clunk, clunk, clunk...

I really don’t enjoy this software. It hasn’t done what it said it would do with web syncing or actively filling in fields… I’ve also noticed their copy and paste button doesn’t always work. It feels like software from the 90s— the GUI is plain, categories missing and it generally needs a lot more consideration. So, after 7 months of using it I’ve switched to 1Password and already I’ve noticed a big difference. It captures servers (web log in) and has a nice, cleaner GUI. Of course mSecure can’t output a clean .csv file for any other software to read—another kickback to the 90’s. More pain from this average piece of work. (I only brought this because I was having to run a lower OS version. Totally regret that decision.) Not worth the time.

WTH? Problems with iOS 8 compatibility

I made a rookie mistake by not checking on the effect an update to iOS 8 might have on this program. I have it installed in my MacBook Pro, iPhone and iPad. Because I haven’t made any changes on my Pro, I still have access to all of my information. I cannot open nor access anything in my other devices. When I tap the icon on the iPad the screen goes black for a millisecond then goes back to the home screen. My iPhone opens the sign-in window, and after entering my password it also flashes back to the home screen. So WTH mSecure? Do I need to delete the program and download it again? If I have to do that and pay for it again, that irritates me! Your software engineers should have been in front of this a long time ago!

Flexible security and syncing for important info!

I’ve tried a few other password vault apps that I discovered only handled a limited set of data types, so I couldn’t store some things that I wanted secure and synced to my iPhone. mSecure lets me create custom data types and set up templates for any data I care to store in it. It’s definitely won me over with it’s flexibility. I received the mSecure iOS 8 update before Apple pushed out the iOS 8 update, so have not encountered any problems with syncing to my iPhone. Looking forward to getting an iPhone 6+ soon, which also had support added in the recent mSecure iPhone update.

Great password / data management app.

I use mSecure and love it. It is probably THE most used app that I have. I started using it a few years ago on my iPhone when it was the only Apple device I had. I then learned that they had a desktop app for my Windows PC and that I can sync them together. I then added it to an iPad and now I have a MacBook Pro and the app has continually improved over this time of acquiring more devices. My Windows PC is now gathering dust and the app updates between all devices immediately and flawlessly any time a change is made or entry is added. It can do so much more than keep track of passwords, as you can enter almost any kinda of data you might want to have with you at all times, such as insurance information, vehicle information, purchases you might need to keep track of, warranties, serial#s, etc. Endless number of uses. It now also supports taking photos of items you might want keep track of, which would be great for insurance claims. No, I do not work for them, just love their product and have been meaning to post a positive review. Check out this great app. I have had no problems using it under IOS8 and do not have any issues with the Mac app either. A reviewer commented about needing more categories and icons, but I don’t find that to be a problem. I can find any of my entries quickly by simply starting to type an entry name or keyword and mSecure finds it for me.

iOS8

Addendum to the below review… a few days after upgrading to iOS8 I recieved a note from mSecure with apologies for the issue and asking my to delete my app and reinstall… it works fine now again… thank you… --- Since upgrading to iOS8 on my iPhone, the iOS app will not open. The Mac app still does but I am very disappointed that mSecure has not updated for iOS8 or even mentions anything about it on their site. I sent an email yesterday which has not been acknowledged. Has mSeven abandoned their customers? Are they still in business? Hello???

Major Problems with Current Version

The latest “rave” reviews filled with joy and enthusiasm are suspect. I’ve been using mSecure for years and am quite adept at operating it well between my iPhone and desktop. Since the iOS8 update, it seems everything has fallen apart (even on my existing iPhone 5s.) Syncing to iCloud does not function. Wifi connectivity is spotty. Basically, everything that made it good is now “out of order.” I would encourage the mSecure developers to get this straightened out before customers like me jump ship to other app/desktop combo options. And no… reinstalling everything doesn’t fix the numerous issues.

icloud sync does not work well

i added new items on mac, when i press “cync”, it simply says “sync complete, no changes”. several days later, press sync, same thing...

Will not sync over iCloud

I spent several hours inputting data into this app via my Macbook Air and then tried to sync to my iPhone and iPad via iCloud drive - nothing happened. I keep getting a message stating that there are no updates and nothing gets synced. I spent $20 between the OSX and IOS versions, and was a total waste of money. Not at all happy...

What happened? Time to change? Frustrated!

I have been using MSecure for a number of years. It is not the slickest software in the world, but the price to features ratio made it a good value and worthy of 4 to 5 stars. HOWEVER, in the last 30 days the product seems to have "gone to heck in a hand basket" regarding sync! I cant get Cloud sysc to work across devices, nor can I get wifi to work reliably across devices. I am at a frustration point of making a move to another product. For the record my systems are: IOS 8.1 on iPhone 6+, iOS 8.1 on iPad 3, OSX 10.10 on MBP Retnia and OSX 10.7 on MacMini. I would strongly recommend you wait to purchase until you see resolution of the current versions.

Problem solved!

I did have a problem syncing after having used the program for quite a while. (Understandable since I added a new device and upgraded my OS.) Sent an email, got a quick, easy to follow response, and the problems was solved. Love the program! I have so many accounts and passwords and it’s an easy way to manage them all!

Works Great!

I have used mSecure on my iPhone for years. I just added it to my mac, and had no trouble syncing everything from my phone. You do seem to need to have the app open on the computer, but the sync was flawless, and only took a few seconds. Thanks!

I have no time to waste thinking up a title for this review.

I have had this app on MacBook Pro (Yosemite) and iPhone (IOS8) for about a month. Very satisfied. I wanted to be able to edit data in plain language outside of the app, store it in encrypted form inside the app, and sync it between devices. So far it is doing that fine. The completely flexible data format is a big plus for this app. I have not tried Cloud sync because I overall I do not trust the Cloud’s security for anything, but it works fine over WiFi.

One of my most valuable tools!

mSecure for the Mac and iOS is a fatastic set of apps that I use all the time. They have a clean easy to use design and just plain work. I just don’t think there is a better set of apps for the price. I have it installed on 3 Macs and 3 iOS devices between myself and my wife. The syncing works brilliantly for us, but we use the Dropbox option as opposed to iCloud. The Dropbox sync allows you sign into any DB account even if it isn’t the native one to that device. I don’t think you can do that with iCloud. Plus I trust DB a little more. I can add/edit/delete records from any device and always see it reflected across all the other devices. That is priceless to me. Plus I don’t have to worry about ever losing this valuable data since it is safely stored offsite and on multiple devices. The Mac app has a classic and clean appearance. It is easy to use and powerful. We use it to store not just web logins but all kinds of other personal information. mSecure does this so well in that it already has categories to handle a huge variety of options. And it is cool that you can assign icons to each entry to add fun and quick way to find something. The search box is amazing! It always finds what I’m looking for as it scans all the fields and not just the description. That makes it very forgiving. It would be nice if it was a little better integrated into the OS like the way 1Password is, but other than that, it does what I want about as perfectly as software can ever be.

WiFi Sync Does Not Work; iCloud Sync Only Works One-Way

The app itself is perfect for me. I have a hi-tech occupation and keep many passwords. However, this app is awful when Im traveling and have updated passwords on my iPhone, expecting them to sync to my Mac mini when I get home. This used to work in the past, before the IOS and mSecure updates in latter half of 2014. I need to find something better that does not have sync issues.

Needs to be updated

icloud sync is broken. The ios apps sync, but the desktop version no longer syncs properly via iCloud. Also for $20 there are far less ways to sort your passwords compared to the much cheaper mobile versions. Overhaul and updates needed to justify the $20 price tag. Seems like the desktop version has been neglected and needs some attention...

msecure

Way over my head. I just wanted a place to store passwords. This thing has so many fields it is quite confusing. Still can’t find the field for storing passwords.
